Yudhoyono supports Indonesians to learn K-Pop

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA - President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono received a visit from South Korean President Park Geun Hye at Presidential Palace. Both countries agreed to boost cooperation in tourism and creative industry, including Korean Pop or K-pop.

South Korea has emerged as a strong player in world's creative industry. The influence of country's modern culture, particularly in cinema and music has spread globally. TYudhoyono, therefore, expected to strengthen bilateral cooperation in this sector to improve the Indonesia industry.

"South Korea is very advanced in cinema and music and has a strong creative industry. Indonesian people like K-pop. We are glad to work together because Indonesian creative industry also has great potential," Yudhoyono said recently.

The two leaders also stated their wish to boost other strategic cooperations, including investment in trade, defense and ecotourism. South Korean investment in Indonesia reached 1.9 billion USD in the last year. In trade sectors, South Korea is the fourth position in Indonesia with trade volume reached 30 billion USD in 2012 and would be increased to 100 billion USD in 2020.
