REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA--Governor of Banten, Ratu Atut Chosiyah finally for the first time set foot in Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) building on Friday as a witness in bribery case of disputed local election involving Constitutional Court's Chief Justice, Akil Mochtar.

Atut arrived at 1:00 P.M and gave no response but smile to the newspersons who had been anticipating her appearance. She refused to speak and directly entered the building.

Following Akil’s arrest by nation’s anti-graft commission last week for allegedly accepting bribes at his official house, KPK issued travel against Banten Governor.

The politician of Golkar party--one of country's biggest political parties--allegedly had a vested interest on the victory of her party candidates, Amir Hamzah and Kasmin--who actually lost--in general election of Lebak district.

Amir Hamzah, pairing with Kasmin then filled a lawsuit to Constitutional Court over the Election Commision result that showed his rival, Iti Octavia Jayabaya winning majority of the vote

The panel of judges led by Chief of Justice Akil Mochtar on October 1 granted the plaintiff’s claim and ruled the vote must be reheld . Akil Mochtar was recently named a suspect by the KPK in alleged bribery case linked to the election in Lebak.

Several of Atut's family members were known to hold a public office at province and state-level as well. Her younger brother, Tubagus Chaery Wardana, has also been named a suspect in connection with the alleged bribery case involving Akil Mochtar and the election in Lebak.
