REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, NUSA DUA--China's President Xi Jinping strongly believed the Asia-Pacific region would not prosper without China's contributions, and therefore, China will continue to work for the progress of the region. He made these remarks in his key address at the APEC CEO Meeting in Nusa Dua, Bali Monday evening.
On the othe side, Jinping said, China would certainly need cooperation within the region to implement its mutually beneficial programs and policies. He referred Asia Pacific as China's "extended family," noting that plays an important role in this arrangement.
Despite the country's currently slow economic growth, Jinping further attempted to convince the leaders of Asia-Pacific countries of the important position held by China in the region.
China, Jinping said, witnessed slow growth of 7.6 percent after performing convincingly over the past few years with double-digit growth.
He described the economic situation in his country as a rainbow that has just emerged after a bout of heavy rain, yet he added that no high mountain can go unconquered.
He claimed, however, the number was still higher than that of other countries and the country's GDP growth was still within the expected range.
He held no doubt that the Asia-Pacific region would enjoy strong growth prospects through the movement of capital and human resources between Asia-Pacific countries.
President Xi Jinping welcomed China's APEC chairmanship in 2014 and expressed readiness to ensure the success of all APEC activities to be held in China next year.
