REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA - Director General Mineral and Coal in Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, Thamrin Sihite said that 125 processing and refining plants or smelters that were ready to be built in Indonesia. Except 125 smelters, government will not give permission to export minerals.
"These 125 smelters wll be built in Indonesia. Those companies still can export minerals after 2014," Sihite said recently.
Government received about 300 proposals to build smelters. Among them, only 125 proposals are under consideration.
Next week, government will verify locations of 125 smelters directly to areas. Government will ask companies to put certain funds in banks as guarantee.
