REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, SEOUL - Samsung Electronic Co is keen to build smartphone factory in Indonesia. Vice Chairman of Samsung, Kang Ho Moon said company would conduct a study.
"We know Indonesia has a great potential, but it is not easy to build a factory as soon as possible," Hoo Moon said in a meeting with Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs, Hatta Rajasa and Minister of Industry MS Hidayat in Seoul on Thursday.
Ho Moon hopes that company will soon realize its investment in Indonesia, without mentioning any timetable. Last year, Samsung secured a deal with Vietnam and China related to build factories in both countries. Both plants are successfully driving company's production. Exports from China and Vietnam reached 250 million units.
Earlier, Rajasa urged the largest technology company in Korea to immediately invest in Indonesia as Samsung's import to Indonesia was quite high. It reached one million unit per year. Indonesia is quite promising due to high growth of middle class. Rajasa promised to provide some ease for Samsung.
