Ten pairs celebrate their wedding by planting trees in Yogyakarta

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, YOGYAKARTA - Ten pairs celebrated their wedding on Wednesday morning at 10.00 Western Indonesian Time by planting symbolic trees in Yogyakarta. The couples are six pairs of mixed nationalities between Indonesians and foreigners and the other four are Indonesians.  

Chairman of Forum Ta'aruf Indonesia (Fortrais) also Head of Yogya Married Festival, Ryan Budi Nuryanto said this program as an early stage to another plan of Yogya Married Festival to be held on October 10, 2013.

"This activity is expected to attract more tourists to visit Yogyakarta," Nuryanto said on Wednesday.

Wearing bridal dresses with Yogyakarta and Solo style, those ten pairs planted Sawo Kecik (Manilkara kauki) and vines. The marriage process and tree planting was started in front office of Yogyakarta Department of Tourism then walked to plant trees in the corner of Garuda Hotel, parliament building, and Malioboro Mall.
