REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, PALANGKARAYA - Dayak tribes plan to exhibit about 200 photos and paintings of historical important events taken during the 17th-19th century. All photos were collected by Borneo Institute from various countries.

"This exhibition will begin on August 29, 2013 when we begin working meeting of National Council of Indigenous Dayak (MADN) II," Director of Borneo Institute, Yanedi Jagau said on Monday, adding that the event would be attended by Dayak community leaders.

There are 200 photos selected from 1200 photos collected from individuals and several museums in Switzerland, Germany, Netherlands and other countries. Jagau said this photo exhibition would show some events of meeting of Tumbang Hanoi and other rare and historical events.

The organizer will facilitate consultation to educate public about the events shown on those photos. The event will also display paintings made by Germans since camera has not been invented in 17th century.

In short, this exhibition will quench the public's thirst on knowledge of Dayak history as well as highlight the importance of preserving Indonesian culture.
