Indonesia gets three medals in World Music Content

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA - Drum Corps Indonesia (DCO) and Marching Band Gita Surosowan (MBGS) of Banten got gold, silver, and bronze medals in 17th World Music Contest which was held in Kerkrade, Netherlands last week. This event was attended by more than 50 domestic and international participants from 14 countries, including Indonesia.

The 1st Secretary at Indonesia Embassy in the Hague, Danang Waskito said MBGS got one gold medal in category of Show World Division. DCO got silver medal in same category and bronze in category of Mars World Division.

"DCI showed a collaboration in marching band trumpet, traditional musician tools, such as drums, ketipung, as well as dance parade with colorful flags. DCI was looked quite lively and got warm welcome from audiences," Surosowan said.

MBGS showed marching band and traditional theatrical, Rama and Shinta. With a blend of modern and traditional music, choreography arrangements, hornline movement and percussion, MBGS attracted more than 15 thousand audiences at Limburg Stadium. They got standing ovation at the end of show.

World Music Contest is a drum band or marching band contest held every four years in Kerkrade, Netherlands. It has five categories namely show, marching parade, mars, brass band and percussion ensemble. Two main categories are Division for Beginners and World International Division.
