IDX and Economic Community of Sharia socialize Islamic capital market

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA - Indonesian Stock Exchange (IDX) in cooperation with Economic Community of Sharia hold a roadshow, School of Islamic Capital Market (SICM) for anyone interested on Islamic capital market. Director of IDX, Frederica Widyasari Dewi said SICM was held in some universities from April to October 2013. 

"Indonesia with the largest Muslim population in the world has good potential," Dewi said on Tuesday. 

Dewi admitted that some Muslims still had doubt whether stock market based on Islamic principle. Capital market is one of attractive sectors for investment. There are 290 Islamic stocks out of 479 public shares in IDX.

Sixty percent of total listed companies in IDX is sharia companies. Islamic market capitalization reaches 2,600 trillion IDR from total of 4,500 trillion IDR.
