Govt to add fuel supplies after fuel price hike

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA - Government through a letter of Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources No. 18 of 2013 finally rose the fuel price. Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Jero Wacik asked PT Pertamina as state-owned oil and gas company to add fuel supplies as many as 175 thousand kiloliters (kl) of premium and 200 kl of diesel.

"Pertamina has been asked to add supplies , considering the psychological effects after the fuel price hike. Security forces will take action to any fuel stockpiling," Wacik said recently.

Goverment officially announced the fuel price hike from 4500 IDR to 6500 IDR per liter, while diesel from 4500 IDR to 5,500 IDR per liter started from June 22, 2013 at 00.00 pm. As compensation for the poor, government will provide Temporary Direct Aid (BLSM) through PT Pos Indonesia, the state-owned company providing postal service in Indonesia.

PT Pos Indonesia will provide payment in 13 cities in Indonesia namely Medan, Palembang, Jakarta, Bogor, Semarang, Yogyakarta, Surabaya, Denpasar, Banjarmasin, Solo, Makassar, Malang and Ambon. Payment will be available in 33 provinces on June 25.
