Indonesia builds three schools in Myanmar

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, NUSA DUA - Indonesian government provides financial assistance worth one million USD to build three elementary schools in Rakhine State, Myanmar. Indonesian Ambassador to Republic of the Union of Myanmar, Sebastianus Sumarsono said it aimed to resolve problems in Rakhine State experiencing communal conflict.

"Indonesian government intiates to build the schools because basic education in Rakhine is still relatively low," Sumarsono said on Wednesday.

The elementary schools will cater for children's education. This school is equipped with multipurpose building as a gathering place. Beside educational facilities, Rakhine people need housing assistance and they need it most now especially after the ethnic conflict in the former country's military of Junta, many Rakhine people are still living in tents.

Myanmar pretty opens to receive assistance from Indonesia. In 2008, Indonesia has also provided financial assistance worth one million USD to build a hospital which is located near the Andaman Sea.
