Indonesia participates in Aquarama 2013 in Singapore

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA - Indonesia participates international ornamental fish exhibition Aquarama 2013 in Singapore. The event ais also followed by various countries in the world.

"Indonesia opens a pavilion and attended by representatives from 13 companies and associations of ornamental fish," Director of PT Maramaquatic, an Indonesian fish company, Nurmalia Ulfa said on Monday.

Indonesian participants in the event obtain license from the Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheris. "Company's representatives and associations participated in the exhibition present special fishes and ornamental plants, both fresh water, sea water and corals, as well as Indonesian endemic fish species such as arowana and botia," Minister of Maritime Affairs and Fisheris, Sharif Cicip Sutardjo said on Monday, during his tour in the event.

Indonesia's participation at the event is expected to increase market penetration and introduce Indonesian businessmen directly to end-users and cut trade chain. Indonesia eyes to reach fishery export up to five billion USD this year. An Indonesian delagation, Arie Prabawa said value of international trade of ornamental fish export had increased about 14 percent per year.

"Developing countries record approximately two-thirds of  total value of world exports," Prabawa said.
