REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA - An associate professor of Institute of Technology Bandung, Dr Moedji Raharto, said that partial lunar eclipse would be visible in all part of Indonesia on early Friday, at 02.54-03.21 Western Indonesian Time (WIB). The eclipse also can be seen in South East Asia, Africa, India, China, and Middle East.

Yet, partial lunar eclipse can be visible in clear skies and can be seen with the naked eye. "But only a tiny portion of moon will be covered by the Earth's shadow," he said to Republika on Wednesday.

The "shallow"  eclipse occurs as only 1.5 percent part of the north part of moon enters umbra (shadow) -this stage is called eclipse. Earlier, the moon will enter penumbra at 01.04 WIB.

"Unlike solar eclipse when the sun is fully covered 100 percent (by the moon's shadow), it's quite difficult to distiguish between full moon and the moon entering penumbra," Raharto explained.

Three minutes after the ecplise, the moon will enter full moon status. Raharto added, the eclipse will occur in western hemisphere.
