Blitz Megaplex denies rumor on Korean ownership

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA - An Indonesian cinema, Blitz Megaplex, denied rumor that the company had been acquired by Cheil Jedang Cheil Golden (CJ CGV) of South Korea. Director of PT Graha Layar Prima (GLP), Brata Perdana, said that his company still the majority shareholder.

"We are very welcome to anyone who wants to check our certificate at Ministry of Justice and Human Rights that GLP still the majority shareholder and own 3.257.732 shares of a total 3,272,276 shares," Perdana said on Tuesday. 

Cinema business is still on foreign investment negative list and is not allowed to be sold to any foreign investor A spokesman of Blitz Megaplex, Dian Sunardi admitted that the company had three new directors from CJ CGV (Lim Jong Kil, Im Sang Youp and Coi Dae Ayon) and it raised speculation about GLP ownership.  

"They were hired as professionals," she said.
