Tower Bersama Infrastructure builds Batik House in Pekalongan

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA - PT Tower Bersama Infrastructure (TBIG), one of the nation's largest telecommunications tower operator, built Batik House, a center for training and developing batik, at Wiradesa Village in Pekalongan. The measure aims to preserve and promote Indonesian batik. 

President Director of TBIG Herman Setya Budi said that his company selected Pekalongan after doing some survey. "Pekalongan is not only the world's city of batik, but the coastal town artisans are easy to learn new designs and colors," he said on Sunday.

Batik House is expected to produce and develop the latest batik design, then it will be marketed by TBIG Batik Cooperatiive Society which managed independently by students of Batik House. The company also held a batik design competition for students, communities, and artisans to encourage young generation to learn the meaning of batik.
