New chief justice of constitutional court elected soon

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA - New chief justice of Constitutional Court will be elected in soon. The predecessor, Mahfud MD, officially retired from his office as his term of office ended on March 31, 2013. 

"We will hold farewell ceremony for Mahfud on Monday. President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono will also inaugurate Arief Hidayat as Constitutional Judge," spokesman of Constitutional Court, Akil Mochtar, said on Sunday.

He said that nine candidates would compete for the empy position as Hidayat appointed as judge.

Mochtar dodged question about the most potential candidate The candidate will elected through acclamation process. However, if the method fails to reach an agreement, then voting will take place. Meanwhile, Mahfud believes that any successor will be the right person with high integrity.
