Twenty F-16 fighters to guard Malacca Strait

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, PEKANBARU -  Twenty F-16 fighters will guard Malacca Strait, a strategic region in Indonesian border, in 2014. The F-16 fighter jets with 52 blocks equipped with advance armament are a part of armament renewal in Indonesian Navy. 

"Roesmin Nuryadin Airbase in Pekanbaru is ready to welcome a squadron of F-16 fighters," the Head of Information and Library at Roesmin Nuryadin Airbase in Pekanbaru, Mayor Filfadri, said on Tuesday. The aircrafts are expected to arrive in 2014.

With the new 24 aircrafts,  Roesmin Nuryadin Airbase will have two squadron fighters, the F-16 and Hawk 100/200.
