Islamic Book Fair is open

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA - The biggest exhibition of Islamic book in Indonesia, Islamic Book Fair (IBF) is open for ten days started from Friday in Gelora Bung Karno, Senayan, Jakarta. IBF offers book lovers  to quench their thirst on knowledge of Islam.  

"The publishers does not only seek business, but also educate people on Islam," the Acting Head of IBF Board, Khaerudin, said.

Besides exhibiting Islamic and non-Islamic books, IBF also holds Islamic talkshow, seminar and art performance. One of the talkshows presents Muslim Scholar Hamid Fahmy Zarkasyi who talks about his new book entitled Misykat.

"The seminars will discuss on interesting matters. It surely can attract the visitors," Khaerudin said.

IBF is also the right place for readers to meet and communicate with the writers. The readers can understand the story behind the books. "Sometime, the writers do not mention the intricate details in their books," he said.

The Founder of IBF, Fahmi Umar, said the exhibition would develop from year to year. "IBF provides great yet cheap books," he said, adding that most visitors were interested in cheap books.

IBF was firstly held in 2002. Presenting 84 tenants, it could attract 108,000 visitors with the transaction worth 8.1 billion IDR. In 2012, it presented 366 tenants and attracted 395,000 visitors. The transaction also increased to 97 billion IDR.
