REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, PEMALANG - Government plans to boost horticulture export volume, aiming to increase farmers' welfare. Hence, government will absorb export opportunities to neighboring countries.

"It is possible to enter Singapore market as we intensely discuss with food authority of Singapore to implement good agriculture practice," Minister of Agriculture, Suswono, said on Thursday. He added that Indonesia ambitiously sought 30 percent of Singapore market share on horticulture products.

Other trade opportunities also come from Europe and Australia. Yet, Indonesia has a lot of works to improve the quality by maintaining infrastructure such as for cold storage. "The future of our prime product is organic products and there is a wide opportunity to enter European market," he said

Minister of Trade Gita Wirjawan said Indonesia must surpass other countries exporting horticulture products, such as China. In 2013, the export of horticulture products is only 10 percent from Indonesian total export.
