US complains about Indonesian ban of imported horticulture

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA - Indonesian Ministry of Trade admitted that US complaining about government's new regulation that bans the import of horticulture products. "Other countries also will submit their complains, but they are waiting for the result of consultation between US and Indonesia, which will be conducted on March 10," Vice Minister of Trade, Bayu Krisnamurthi, said on Friday.

Indonesia will form a panel if the consultation fails to reach an agreement. "Some countries, such as Australia, New Zealand and Canada, seem to be with US," he said.

Indonesia bans the import of several fruits and vegetables, such as potato, cabbage, carrot and durian. The regulation puts into effect from January to June 2013.
