REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA - Dasep Ahmadi, plans to produce 1,000-2,000 units of electric city car in 2013. The car, named Evina, will be sold under 200 million IDR.

Who is Ahmadi? He is the man who designs the most talked about electric car, Tucuxi. Last year, Coordinating Mnister of Economy Hatta Rajasa has some test drive Ahmadi's electric car.

"We are still waiting for the license. I hope the issue can be settled before second quarter of 2013," Ahmadi said on Wednesday.

After the license is issued, the car will be produced based on demand. The car has been tested for a range 1,000 kilometers, from Depok to Jakarta, Jakarta to Bogor, Jakarta to Puncak, and Jakarta to Bandung. "We faced some problems, but we have taken care of," he said.

The target market of the car is government institutions and private companies. He explained that government institutions usually rented expensive operational cars. He guarantees that the companies can cut their budget by using electric cars.

This city electric car, designed less than six months, is able to travel to 120 kilometers per hour. For a four-hour charge, it can travel to 135 kilometers. Meanwhile, State Electricity has committed to build 1,000 electric station in Jakarta to support the plan.
