REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, GRESIK - Indonesia's biggest cement manufacturer, Semen Gresik, rebrands to Semen Indonesia to strengthen its image. Minister of State-owned Company, Dahlan Iskan, announced the new move on Monday.

"This company should become our pride abroad. We can call Semen Gresik, or now Semen Indonesia, as the biggest cement manufacturer in Asia," Minister Dahlan said on Monday during his speech in the inauguration of Semen Indonesia.

He explained that the stake holders had long planned the rebranding. Executive Director of Semen Indonesia, Dwi Soetjipto, said that currently Semen Indonesia became holding company for state cement companies PT Semen Padang and PT Semen Tonasa and also Semen Thang Long Vietnam.

He expects Semen Indonesia can boost its performance and following its success in Vietnam, the company plans to build a new manufacture in Myanmar. The Vietnam's manufacture can produce up to 28.3 million tonnes per year, while Indonesian demand for cement is 26.5 million tonnes. "We will export the rest," he said.
