Police: 200,000 people celebrate Jakarta Night Festival

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA - Jakarta Police Department predicts that there are 200,000 people celebrating new year's eve in Jakarta Night Festival. The festival took place in along Sudirman-MH Thamrin streets.

Spokesman of Jakarta Police Department, Rikwanto, said the event went well and safe despite the sea of people gathered in around Hotel Indonesia and National Museum (Monas).

He said that about 16 people becam the victims of pickpockets and other 16 family set apart from their members.

Jakarta Night Festival was presented by Jakarta Provincial Government. About 17 events in 17 different location entertained the visitors. No vehicle was allowed to enter the location.
