REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA - National Institute of Aeronautics and Space (LAPAN) produces Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAV) to monitor disaster in Indonesia. Named LSU-03, the UAV can hold up to 10 kilograms weight and fly to 500 meters.
"LAPAN has used the UAV to capture the condition of volcano and agricultural area," the Head of Lapan, Bambang S Tejasukmana, said on Thursday.
The aircraft is being prepared to monitor disaster and Tejasukmana claims that the UAV is effective to observe landslide and flood. The aircraft, controlled by computer, is equipped with a camera to capture the targeted area. LAPAN is still improving the method, personnel and procedure for the UAV.
