President installs new navy, air force chiefs

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA - President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono installed Vice Admiral Marsetyo as the new Navy commander and Vice Marshal Ida Bagus Putu Dunia as the new Air Force chief on Monday. Previously, Putu Dunia was commander of armed forces Staff and Command School while Marsetyo was deputy chief of the Air Force.

The inauguration ceremony was held the State Palace and was attended by House Speaker Marzuki Alie, Indonesian Defense Forces Commander Admiral Agus Suhartono, National Police Chief General Timur Pradopo, and some other figures. Outgoing chief of the Air Force Imam Syufaat and outgoing chief of the Navy Admiral Soeparno will retire. A number of ministers who also attended the function included Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs Djoko Suyanto, Chief Economic Minister Hatta Rajasa, Foreign Minister Marty Natalegawa, Minister/State Secretary Sudi Silalahi, Jakarta Governor Joko Widodo and a number of other senior state officials.
