REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA - Indonesian Government finally imposes 20 percent safeguard import duty (BMTPS) for imported flour. Minister of Finance Agus Martowardojo signed the regulation on December 5.

The regulation is valid after it is legislated by the Ministry of Laws and Human Rights. BMTPS, implemented for imported flour included in tarif post number 1101.00.10.10 and 1101.00.10.90, applies for all countries excluding 118 countries exporting in small scale.

Executive Director of Indonesian Flour Producers Association (Aptindo), Ratna Sari Loppies, said BMTPS would be levied for 200 days since it was implemented while waiting for the investigation of Indonesian Trade Safeguard Committee (KPPI).

Aptindo earlier proposed safeguard trade for imported flour products. Imported flour is accused to inflict losses on local flour company.
