REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA - State electricity company (PT PLN) plans to buy Qatar's liquefied natural gas (LNG) from Hungarian trader as the third party. The import is aimed to meet the shortage of gas supply in floating storage and regasification unit (FSRU) in West Java.

"The Hungarian trader claimed that it can provide up to 1.5 metric tonnes per annum (MTPA)," Vice Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources, Rudi Rubiandini, said on Wednesday.

PLN demands the price to be 8 to 11 USD per million metric british thermal unit (mmbtu). If the agreement is reached, Hungarian trader will supply LNG to Indonesia for two years. PLN needs gas for power plant in Aceh and North Sumatra accommodated through Arun LNG terminal.
