REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, RAMALLAH - The visit of Indonesian House of Representatives Delegation to Palestine shows that Indonesia consistently supports Palestine. Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas warmly welcomes the delegation.

Abbas said on Wednesday that Indonesia was not only a neighbour, but also a brother that always supported Palestine, as reported by M Akbar Wijaya from Republika. Indonesia, he said, was the pioneer of the countries sponsoring Palestine to become observer in United Nations (UN). He added that Marty Natalegawa's speech in the UN was an honour for Palestinians.

Abbas recalled that Indonesia had always assisted Palestine. He said that Palestine would always remember Indonesia.

The President also welcomed positively the Indonesian plan to open representative office in Palestine. He expects the relationship of both countries to increase with the existence of representative office.

After the upgraded status of Palestine in the UN, Abbas will build reconciliation with factions in Palestine to strengthen the next step. He added that Hamas and Fatah would discuss to reach agreement of Palestinian freedom.
