REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA - Indonesian state owned defense manufacture, PT Pindad (Persero), exhibits new 4x4 tactical vehicles in Indodefence 2012.

"We are exhibiting four vehicles. The first one is anti-airstrike vehicle. The second is reconnaissance vehicle, while the other two are personnel carriage vehicles," the Product Design Staff of PT Pindad, Windu Paratama, said on Friday.

Those military vehicles can be used in various areas, since the tires enable the vehicles to be operated in dusty, muddy, and unpaved roads. The 5,193 cc machine generates 215 Hp. The tank can be filled up to 200 liters. It is also equipped with armored body which able to resist up to 7.62 mm bullet.

Pindad claimed that they made the design, frame, and body of the vehicles themselves. They use Hino’s for machinery and Michelin’s for the tires.

"We’ve got 40 percent of local content on this vehicle," he said.

About 90 vehicles are to be finished next year to strengthen Indonesian military defense. The monocoque vehicle will be used in anti-terror operation and President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono named it "Komodo".
