REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, MAMUJU - A number of foreign investors compete against each other to invest in the project of Sulawesi railway. Russia, China, Germany, Japan, and Korea were interested on investing in Sulawesi railway, the Chairman of the Coordination Board of Sulawesi Regional Development (BKPRS), Anwar Adnan Saleh, said on Friday.
He said that the competition among foreign investor was tight since the project was promising. "So far government has not yet determined to choose investor to handle the project," he said.
By the end of this year, six governors in Sulawesi will met Directorate General of Railway at the Ministry of Transportation to follow up the plan. This project is expected to bring changes in Sulawesi economic condition.
"The natural resources can be easily transported and inter-regional trade in Sulawesi also contribute to economic development in each region of Sulawesi," he said. The initial plan of Sulawesi railway is started from Makassar in South Sulawesi to Pare-Pare then to Mamuju of West Sulawesi and ended at Central Sulawesi.
