Indonesia supports Iran to be next NAM chair

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, TEHERAN - Indonesian government supports Iran as the chairman of Non Aligned Movement (NAM) for the next three years. "NAM has an important role in creating cooperation of economic and social cultural sectors. We support Iran as a chairman," Indonesian Vice President Boediono said in Teheran on Friday after meeting Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatullah Ali Khamenei and Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad on the sidelines of 16th NAM Summit.

Boediono said they were discussing on global situation and NAM role on creating world order. Ali Khamenei also stated his view on NAM role towards global situation. He expected the movement to show its role on politics and world security.

"We share the same perspective," Boediono said. He said that cooperation of economy, south-south, and social culture must be the focus of NAM.
