REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA - Government is urged to fight drug trafficking inside the area of penitentiary. "The law and criminal provision for the drug convict is ruled on Laws 35/2009 on Narcotics. It is just a matter of implementation and law enforcement," the Chairman of the Central Board of National Awakening Party (PKB), Marwan Ja'far, said on Sunday.

He supported the idea to aggravate the punishment for penitentiary officers involved in drug trafficking. One of them is by revising Laws No. 12/1995 and increasing the number of officers.

"Any advanced tools will not work effectively while we are lacking of officers," he said. Officers who thwarted the drug trafficking, he said, should be awarded with scholarship.

Also, the drug dealers must be punished to prevent money laundering. He also hopes National Narcotics Institution (BNN) make a strategy to tackle the drug trafficking. "BNN should have its own jail for drug dealers," he said.
