REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, MAMUJU - Europeans pay more attention in cocoa growing in Mamuju, West Sulawesi, since they have preference to the Mamuju’s commodity. “Eurpeans are worried about the cocoa quality and product,” the Head of Plantation in the Department of Forestry and Plantation, Mamuju, Trikora Wahab, said on Thursday.

He claimed that Europeans adored Mamuju cocoa due to its fine quality. "Nestle invests in Mamuju to develop Mamuju cocoa so that Europeans can still be able to consume this commodity," he explained.

Nestle uses its partner, Swisscontact, to teach the instructors and cocoa farmers in West Sulawesi so that they can learn the technique of cocoa cultivation. "West Sulawesi has 30 instructors and 30 farmers. The empowerment is an effort to maintain the quality and production," he said and added that he expect the cocoa farmer were able to grow quality cocoa with the help of right technology to fulfill European market.
