Dozens thousands ready to flock to Jakarta on Mayday

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID,  JAKARTA – At least 57,000 people will protest in Jakarta on Mayday, according to Jakarta Police Department. “They will gather in five locations,” the Spokesman of Jakarta Police Department, Rikwanto, said on Monday.

The locations are National Monument (Monas), Bundaran Hotel Indonesia, Tugu Tani, Salemba Street, and Tugu Proklamasi. About 16,608 personnel are prepared for the event. They will secure Istana Merdeka, Vice President Palace, Monas, Bundaran HI, Tanjung Priok Port, Soekarno-Hatta Airport, and House of Representatives.

Police will also impose contra flow system in Jakarta Inner Ring Road on Mayday. “We have coordinated with Jasa Marga to conduct a research on toll engineering,” the Traffic Director of Jakarta Police Department, Dwi Sigit Nurmantyas, said on Monday.

The officer will shut a lane on the Inner Ring Road, while another is for two-way traffic. He mentioned the shut of toll from Cawang to Semanggi would be from KM 3.50 to KM 7.150. The rule will be imposed on May 1-4 from 06.00–10.00 Indonesian Western Time.
