Wow! Aceh coffee joins international exhibition

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, BANDA ACEH – Aceh Coffee Forum (FKA) supports the manufacturers in Central Aceh and Bener Meriah to attend international coffee exhibition in US to increase the export volume of the commodity. The exhibition presented by Specialty Coffee Association of America (SCAA) is held in Oregon Convention Center, Portland, Oregon, US, on April 19-21, 2012.

“We fully support the participation of Gayo coffee manufacturers to attend the biggest exhibition in the world as a promotion to introduce Aceh Arabica Coffee to international market,” the Chairman of FKA, Mustafa Ali, said in Banda Aceh.

The Chairman of Coffee Forum of Fair Trade Asia Pacific, Mustawalad, said on the press release that the Gayo coffee manufacturer would open two stands, international market and US market. US market is aided by Fair Trade USA and coordinated by three coffee cooperatives, APKO, GLOC, and Permata Gayo, while international market will be coordinated by Fair Trade International.

The coffe for the exhibition come from manufactures that own Fair Trade and Organic certificate, such as Ketiara, Adil Wiladah Mabrur, Kopi Gayo Organik (KKGO), Bies Utama, Sara Ate, and Arinagata. Ali said the exhibition was an opportunity for the manufacturer to increase the quality. Also, the buyers of Aceh Arabica Coffee are hoped to increase.

The data in Industry, Trading, Cooperative and Small Medium Enterprises Department states US as the main market of Aceh coffee in 2011 with the volume of five million tonnes. The export value of Aceh Coffee to US in 2011 reaches 35.143 million USD.
