REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, SIMELEU – The 8.5 scala ritcher earthquake struck Simeulue, Nangroe Aceh Darusalam (NAD) on 15.38.29 Western Indonesian Time. It also hit five provinces, which are Aceh, Bengkulu, Lampung, West Sumatera, and North Sumatera. The early warning of tsunami is issued following the earthquake.

Meteorological, Climatological, and Geophysical Agency (BMKG) noted the epicentrum of the earthquake was in 2.31 North Latitude and 92.67 East Longitude. The depth is 10 kilometers.

“We are now coordinating with Local Disaster Management Agency (BPBD),” the spokesman of the National Disaster Mitigation Agency, Sutopo Purwo Nugroho, said. He also contacted Indonesia National Army.

“We have alerted 500 people in Halim Perdanakusuma Airport, but the number who will be flown is waiting for the contact with BPBD,” he added.
