REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA – The exhibition of international 3D film entitled Now and When: Future Urban Spaces will explain the future of urban environment. Presented for the first time in Indonesia, the exhibition features Australian 3D architectural visions in now and in the future.

“It is to stimulate the people thought on city problems,” the photographer and the director of Now and When, John Gollings said on Wednesday in Jakarta.

The main urban problems, he said, were crimes, population, and traffic. With this picture, people are hoped to find the solution for the problems. Held by Australian Institute of Architects and Australian Government, it is open free for public from April 5-24 in Pacific Place Mall, Jakarta, from 10.00-19.00 in Sunday to Thursday and 10.00-21.00 for Friday and Saturday.

Entering the exhibition, the visitors are guided to a dark room filled with only a screen and some 3D glasses hanging in front of the screen. The visitors should wear the glasses to watch the 14 minutes 3D pictures presented on screen.

The movie demonstrates two parts of Australian city, now and when. The former, the picture of existing Australian urban landscape, has four pictures, while the later, the potential urban future, has 17 pictures.

“To capture the now, I should use helicopter,” he said. He said that he actually needed two cameras to take a picture. But instead, he only used one and moved from an angle to another by helicopter. He should use GPD to find the right coordinates.

“The hardest part is when I should capture the entire city,” he said.

For the when picture, John is collaborated with designers and architects. The

entrees were 140 pictures, but it sorted to 17. “They were chosen because they have different approaches,” John said. One of them is picturing a floating realm because of the high population.
