REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA – World Bank predicts Indonesian government will have no other option than increasing the price on the third quarter of this year or in July 2012 or May at the earliest after monitoring the development of world oil price, the World Bank’s lead economist, Shubham Chaudhuri, said on Wednesday.
House of Representatives decided that government could adjust the fuel price if Indonesian Crude Price was 15 percent above the assumed 105 USD per barrel. “The House’s decision will be fulfilled in the third quarter. House and government inevitably should agree with the increasing of Indonesian fuel price,” Chaudhuri said in the discussion on Indonesia Economic Quarterly in Jakarta.
The subsidy in Indonesia, he said, was a part of Indonesian economic success. The fuel consumption is also increased along with the rising of national income.
Gross Domestic Income per capita in Indonesia in 2010 is 3,000 USD. The following year is 3,000 USD. The vehicle number is also increasing. On 2011, the selling of motorcycle reaches 11 million as car reaches 900,000 units.
