REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA – National Nuclear Energy Agency (Batan Technology) will export its Molybdenum-99 radioisotope, the best quality in South East Asia, to China gradually until it reaches 900 cori cycle. China lacks of Molybdenum-99 supplies for medical sector, while Indonesia has an opportunity to be the biggest supplier of chemical material needed to detect cancer and tumor.
The Minister of state-owned enterprises, Dahlan Iskan, said the export to China was planned to start in August with the delivery capacity on 40-90 cori cycle of Molybdenum-99 per week. The maximum delivery of Molybdenum-99 is 300 cori cycle per week. “We potentially obtain 1-1.5 trillion IDR of revenue,” Iskan said on Tuesday.
Batan has exported Molybdenum-99 to three countries, Malaysia, Philippine, and Bangladesh, yet the revenue is only 50 billion IDR. Iskan said that Japan was also interested in importing Molybdenum-99 from Indonesia in the amount of 1,000 cori cycle per week.
The margin of this business is quite promising for Batan. The Ministry of state-owned enterprises has targeted that Batan will gain 1 trillion IDR of revenue. The Ministry will lend 100 billion IDR to fund the project. Batan has been asked to seek another 25 experts to add it 90 workers. The meeting between Iskan and China Minister of Trade several days ago has open the business opportunity.
