REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, GAZA CITY – Indonesian Hospital (RSI) Gaza books another record, as they conduct the biggest casting in Gaza. About 500 m3 concrete is spilled at one time in eight hour casting process in the third floor of Indonesian Hospital.

“In Indonesia or other countries, the casting in such number is usual. But in Gaza where materials are so hard to get, this is different case then. The blockaded country has never conducted such casting,” an engineer from Medical Emergency Rescue Committee (MER-C) in Gaza, Nur Ikhwan, said on Monday.

The first record was the casting of the second floor of Gaza Indonesian Hospital two months ago in the amount of 484 m3. At first, the engineers in Gaza were not sure that they could do casting in one time. They asked MER-C engineer team several time to conduct the casting in several stages, since they were worried about many things including the materials procurement and the strength of the building.

“Usually, the building in Gaza is rectangular. The Gaza Indonesian Hospital is unique and different because it is octahedron,” Ikhwan said. He hopes the new technology can be introduced to Gaza to strengthen the relationship between Indonesian people and Gazans.
