SBY flies to China, Hong Kong, and South Korea

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA – President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono, planned to visit China, Hong Kong, and South Korea and brought along some agenda. He flew from Halim Perdana Kusuma Airport on Thursday at 10.00 of local time.

His first visit was Beijing where he held bilateral meeting with President Hu Jintao and Prime Minister Wen Jiabao. SBY and PM Wen Jiabao will witness the signing of several Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) of cooperation between two countries, such as MoU on Maritime Cooperation; Cooperation in Narcotic Drugs, Psychotropic Substances and Precursor Chemical Control; Concerning Archives Cooperation, and External Merchandise Trade Statistical Data.

SBY will also hold business meeting with the CEOs of big companies of China. Later, SBY plans to deliver a speech on science in Tsinghua University to receive an honorary degree. He will continue his visit to Hong Kong with to meet the Chief Executive Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, Donald Tsang, on March 24. The meeting is prospected to widen Indonesia-Hong Kong cooperation in manpower, investment, trade, education, tourism, social, and culture.

After those series events, SBY will meet some chairs of companies in Hong Kong to promote master plan program for the Acceleration and Expansion of Indonesia Economic Development (MP3EI). Later on, he will hold a dialog with Indonesian workers in Hong Kong.

SBY plans to arrive on March 26 in South Korea to attend Seoul Nuclear Safety Summit where he will deliver some speeches on Nuclear Security-Safety Interface and National Measures and International Cooperation to Enhance Nuclear Security, including Future Commitments.

Then he will hold bilateral meeting with President Lee Myung-bak to sign an MoU on Comprehensive Energy Cooperation and another MoU on Transportation. According to plan, SBY will fly back to Indonesia on March 29.
