REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA – A New York band, Manhattan Transfer, rocked again at Java Jazz Festival (JJF) 2012. The four vocalists, Tim Hauser, Janis Seagel, Alan Paul, and Margaret -temporary replaced the sick Cheryl Bentyne- presented some of their new songs and also the classic hits. 

“Let’s pray that Cheryl can recover soon,” Tom Hauser said in the middle of their performance.

Margaret certainly showed her power to steal the audience’s attention. In ‘I Win’, Margareth showed her melodic voice. Another surprise comes from Tim, who happily announced his plan to get married on the next May. He then sang a romantic song to his bride to be. Awww… love was on the air! 

Each of the personnel presented their own distinct skills. The easy listening band, started from drummer to guitarist, each had her or his own time to feature solo.

Janis opened the song ‘Side winder’ with communicatively talking to the audience. She told the story of the song meaning. Smiles were forced from the sea of audience.  

Alan Paul then suddenly took a picture of the crowd. “Say cheeseee!” he said followed by the burst into cheer and laughter. The Manhattan Transfer again successfully made the show cheerful, warm, yet elegance.
