Cox: Indonesia commits to institutional reformation

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA - The Vice President of World Bank for East Asia and the Pacific, Pamela Cox, praises Indonesian strong economic growth. Indonesian economy has a commitment in reforming its institutional, Cox said after ending her visit to Indonesia.

“In this unpredictable situation, the economic growth makes Indonesia as one of world’s bright spots. Its coming back to investment rate is expected to attract investment in infrastructure. Thus, it will create employment and advantageous inclusive development,” Cox said.

In her two day visit, Cox carried out bilateral meeting with Indonesian Vice President Boediono, the Minister of Finance Agus Martowardojo, the State Minister of National Development Planning Armida Alisjahbana, and the Head of Presidential Work Unit on Overseeing and Controlling Development (UKP4) Kuntoro Mangkusubroto.

“World Bank and Indonesia has a close bilateral relationship in the last 60 years. We have a commitment to continue our relationship in offering the practical solution to tackle several challenges in development, such the decreasing of poverty, public service, development of infrastructure, environment, and governance,” she said.

Cox served as the Vice President of World Bank for Latin America and Caribbean. In her new position, Cox lead staffs in 22 nations. She is in charge for financing portfolio in the amount of 29.7 billion US dollar. In 2012, World Bank’s loan for East Asia and the Pacific hit 6.7 billion US dollar.
