REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, BANDUNG – A leading opposition figure in Malaysia, Anwar Ibrahim, admitted that corruption eradication was still ineffective, with a high number of cases. He distinguished corruption cases between the two countries.

“There is a high level of corruption cases in Malaysia. Yet, since we were colonized by the British Empire, corruption cases in Malaysia are more sophisticated,” Anwar said after attending a national meeting of Muslim Students’ Association (HMI) in Bandung on Monday.

Anwar said, diplomacy played important role in many corruption cases in his country, so the culprits were above the law. Transparency, he said, was a rare quality in Malaysia.

“Malaysia and Indonesia are different. Indonesia was occupied by the Dutch, so corruption cases here are not sophisticated. Instead, they are quite obvious.” Hmmm.... Nothing to be proud of -obviously.
