REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, PEKALONGAN -- A total of 15 countries' representatives have confirmed their wish to participate in the "Nusantara Batik Week". It was scheduled to be held in the Central Java Provincial city of Pekalongan from October 20 to 24, 2018.
The 15 countries are Ukraine, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Armenia, Peru, South Korea, Switzerland, Sri Lanka, the United Arab Emirates, Laos, Japan, Bahrain, Belgium and Zimbabwe, according to Tjandrawati, head of the Cooperative and Small and Medium Enterprises Division of the Pekalongan City Department of Industry, Trade, Cooperatives and SMEs.
"Representatives from foreign countries have stated their intention to participate in the Nusantara Batik Week. Apart from the 15 countries, Germany has also confirmed its participation in the event," he said.
During the Nusantara Batik Week, the local government will conduct some exhibitions including on tourism, said Sri Ruminingsih, secretary to the regional government.
She further hoped the exhibitions would be able to attract more visitors.
