REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Indonesia Air Asia X has secured a permit from the General Authority of Civil Aviation (GACA) of Saudi Arabia to serve the Jakarta-Jeddah flight route.

"We thank the GACA and the Directorate General of Air Transportation of the Indonesian Ministry of Transportation for their support. Indonesia Air Asia X can now operate direct flights along the Jakarta-Jeddah route," President Director of Indonesia AirAsia X Dendy Kurniawan said in a press release received by Antara here on Wednesday.

He added that getting the flight permit was an achievement for the airline because it was no easy task to secure such a license from the GACA.

Kurniawan explained that with the license to serve the route, Indonesia AirAsia X can provide efficient, quality flight services to Indonesians who wish to perform the hajj and minor hajj pilgrimage to the Holy Land.

"Indonesia AirAsia X will do its best to provide quality services so it remains the first choice of Indonesians wanting to go to Saudi Arabia for a pilgrimage," he remarked.

Indonesia AirAsia X conducted its first flight for the Jakarta-Jeddah route from Soekarno-Hatta International Airport to Jeddah's King Abdul Aziz Airport at 2:30 hours on Wednesday, Kurniawan affirmed.

"The maiden flight was carried out in the ongoing Muslim fasting month as a token of our appreciation for being granted the permit by the Saudi Arabian civil aviation authority," Kurniawan noted.
