Tabanan's ceramic crafts sell internationally

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, TABANAN -- The ceramic crafts made by Tabanan Region's craftsman from Bali are sold in international markets, Section Chief of the Foreign Trade Department of Industries and Trade of Tabanan Bali Agung Pramono stated.

"The export demand for craft products is quite high due to their good quality and uniqueness," he noted here on Monday.

The uniqueness of the craft products is typical Balinese motifs, ornaments, and carvings that increase their appeal in the international markets such as the United States, France, England, Germany, Australia, Sweden, Japan, and Malaysia.

The export of up to 17,340 pieces valued at Rp754.6 million was recorded in the period between January and May this year.

Regarding the total sales and exports, Pramono noted that five ceramic craft's producers have been growing rapidly such as CV Tantri S Keramik that exported 16,340 pieces earning Rp326.8 million, CV Keramik Pejaten exporting 500 pieces and earning Rp150 million, CV Cemara Keramik exporting 500 pieces and earning Rp200 million, CV Dwisula earning Rp136.68 million, and CV Mika Keramki Potri earning an export revenue of Rp76 million.

"The ordered craft products will be used in the residential and hospitality sectors and also as dinner sets and ornaments," Pramono remarked.

He is optimistic that the producers would innovate and create unique products with different creations. He also emphasized on the need to increase the quantity by using modern technology and tools for production.
