REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, DENPASAR - Tourists and local residents in Denpasar will not be able to smoke their cigarettes freely in certain areas in capital city of Bali. The local government of Denpasar is drafting Local Regulation of Smoke Free Area.

The Head of Public Relations Department in Denpasar, IB Rahoela, said the regulation would help non-smokers avoid the effects of cigarette smoke in public spaces. "We expects parliament to ratify and implement the regulation soon," Rahoela said on Tuesday.

The regulation will establish smoke-free zones in specific locations, while also provide smoking room in public spaces. "People can only smoke their cigarette in certain areas," he said.

The draft of the regulation says that those who violate the rules will be fined from 50,000 to 100,000 IDR. However, government will give heavier sanction to the company whose employees smoke in the office area.
