REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, SURABAYA - Presiding Judge of the Surabaya District Court, R. Anton Widyopriono rejected the exception or objection note filed by Dhani Ahmad Prasetyo or Ahmad Dhani against defamation charges. The trial continued with examining witnesses.

"The objection of the defendant's legal counsel is inadmissible," Presiding Judge said at a trial with an interim decision in the Surabaya District Court on Tuesday (Feb 19).

In the interim decision, the judge also ordered the public prosecutor to continue the case investigation by presenting witnesses.

"The trial was resumed on Tuesday next week with the agenda of listening to the testimony of witnesses presented by the public prosecutor," he said while closing the proceedings.

Responding to the interlocutory decision, the legal counsel of the defendant, Aldwin Rahadian, said that his party would follow the applicable legal process.

"We will follow the prevailing proceedings even though the prosecutor's indictment is not dated. However, it seems that the panel of judges wants to explore the policies related to this case," he said after the trial.

The case involving Ahmad Dhani as defendant began when he was about to attend the 2019 Presidential Change declaration at Tugu Pahlawan Surabaya, East Java. However, he could not leave the Majapahit Hotel as a group on behalf of the Bela NKRI element hold demonstration against him outside the hotel.

At that time, Dhani made a vlog and uploaded it to social media with a duration of 1 minute, 37 seconds. He allegedly insulted the protester as idiot.
