REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Former Supreme Court Secretary Agung Nurhadi Abdurrachman revealed the origin of the money seized by KPK investigators during a search at his home on April 20, 2016. In the search, the KPK confiscated Rp1.7 billion from Nurhadi's house related to the bribery cases of Edy Nasution as the clerk of the Central Jakarta District Court.

"The money, which has been accumulated from various foreign currencies, rupiahs, Singapore dollars, US dollars, was mostly the remainder of my official trip. Some of it is my own money, which was for the purpose of making casual business trips," Nurhadi stated at the Jakarta Corruption Court (Tipikor) on Monday.

"Automatically, we have to bring the money from my own pocket. The money is exchanged," he stated.

Nurhadi testified for the defendant of former president Commissioner Lippo Group, Eddy Sindoro, who was charged with providing Rp150 million and US$50 thousand to Nasution, in order to delay the process of implementing summoning (call) against PT Metropolitan Tirta Perdana (PT MTP) and accepting registration for the Review of PT Across Asia Limited (PT AAL).

"I am also a businessman doing swallow business; it is routine that during every harvest period in the LHKPN (State Operator Assets Report) sources, we convert all money accumulated from that harvest into other sources of income, "Nurhadi added.

He also stressed that he never dumped the money into the toilet during the KPK search. "This is a big slander. The money was not dumped into the toilet. The media was not available during the search, and so whose their source?" Nurhadi remarked.

The KPK prosecutor then issued evidence totaling Rp1.7 billion, which was confiscated from Nurhadi's house. "There are three new US dollar printed bundles, how do you exchange money for official travel?" KPK JPU Abdul Basir revealed.

"For the rest of my official trip, my daughter-in-law Rezki exchanged some of my own money at the money changer around February 2016 in the Panglima Polim area (South Jakarta)," he explained.

He added that the money was prepared for the treatment of his wife Tin Zuraida in Singapore. "That was for my wife's medical treatment, as she had AMP (Amplified musculoskeletal pain). Since it was handled by a doctor in Singapore, I exchanged the money. It was not from official travel, some of it was my own money," Nurhadi elaborated.

He added that he had started a swallow nest business since 1986 and had even received two quintals of harvest with a price of Rp30 million per kilogram. Harvesting is done every two months.

But Nurhadi claimed that he did not calculate the average income per month from the swallow nest business.

"It is not logical to calculate it as I had been involved in it from 1986, and the harvest has been calculated on an average of two months. The location is in Tulungagung, Mojokerto, Kediri," Nurhadi pointed out.
